Although it currently accounts for only a tiny fraction of the global textile fibre market \u2013 less than 1% of production volumes \u2013 wool however has one one major advantage<\/span><b>: it is already one of the most recycled fibres relative to its market share<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In this context, <\/span><b>recycled wool is emerging as a key driver of the transition towards a more circular economy.<\/b><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/section><section class=\"l-section wpb_row height_medium\"><div class=\"l-section-h i-cf\"><div class=\"g-cols vc_row via_grid cols_2 laptops-cols_inherit tablets-cols_inherit mobiles-cols_1 valign_top type_default stacking_default\"><div class=\"wpb_column vc_column_container\"><div class=\"vc_column-inner\"><div class=\"wpb_text_column\"><div class=\"wpb_wrapper\"><h2>\u00a0<\/h2>\n<h2><b>Wool: a fibre with great potential for the circular economy<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Globally, around 6 to 7% of the wool produced comes from recycling. This figure, modest at first glance, actually reveals a remarkable achievement: relative to its total volume, <\/span><b>wool is one of the most recycled textile fibres,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong> far ahead of recycled cotton<\/strong> and, proportionally speaking, on a par with recycled polyester.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This trend can be attributed to <\/span><b>the fibre\u2019s intrinsic qualities: mechanical strength, elasticity and durability, which enable it to withstand multiple life cycles<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Recycling wool helps to mitigate the initial environmental impact<\/strong> associated with sheep farming, the use of agricultural land and the resources required to produce this naturally high-performance fibre.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><div class=\"wpb_column vc_column_container\"><div class=\"vc_column-inner\"><div end-of-life textiles from consumers<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (post-consumer) and <\/span><b>industrial offcuts or waste generated<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> during manufacturing (pre-consumer). <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Collected via sorting centres, take-back schemes or directly from manufacturers, <strong>these materials are diverted from landfill or incineration and instead recycled.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Wool recycling relies primarily on <\/span><b>a mechanical process that has been perfected over many years<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">: rigorous sorting by fibre type and colour, removal of accessories, defibration, followed by carding and spinning. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This demanding expertise makes it <\/span>possible <b>to breathe new life into existing fibres, <\/b>often by blending them with virgin wool to ensure a level of quality<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, durability and comfort <strong>suited to textile-to-textile recycling<\/strong> and the demands of ready-to-wear and high-end applications<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">: fabrics for coats and jackets, knitwear and accessories, as well as technical uses such as insulation and padding. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span
