This stage involves passing the wool fibres through fine parallel combs, not only to complete the carding process but also to keep only fibres of the same length. The aim? <\/span><b>To obtain a strong, fine yarn<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Noils<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> are considered to be &#8220;waste&#8221; from combing, as they are <\/span><b>fibres that are too short<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and have been intercepted by the combs. They are therefore set aside because they cannot be used to make combed sliver.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Noils may contain a little vegetable matter, but much less than in card waste, another by-product of wool processing.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The noils obtained during the combing of wool fibres can be used in <\/span><b>carded spinning<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, for example. This process often uses blends of wools or materials, chosen according to the desired end use. Carded wool can also be used to <\/span><b>make slippers or military blankets<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, for example.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/section><section class=\"l-section wpb_row us_custom_0db20381 height_medium\"><div class=\"l-section-h i-cf\"><div class=\"g-cols vc_row via_grid cols_2 laptops-cols_inherit tablets-cols_inherit mobiles-cols_1 valign_top type_default stacking_default\"><div class=\"wpb_column vc_column_container\"><div class=\"vc_column-inner\"><div class=\"wpb_text_column\"><div class=\"wpb_wrapper\"><h2>Burrs<\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Burrs are also considered &#8216;waste&#8217; or <\/span><b>by-products of woollen process<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The carding stage <\/span><b>involves untangling the tangled wool fibres and removing the vegetable matter still present after the crucial scouring stage. <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Carding breaks up the knots and lumps of wool, then aligns the fibres parallel to each other. As a result, the card waste obtained after this stage <\/span><b>is made up of both plant matter and tangled wool fibres<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.
